Grey Mullet Goan Curry

Ingredients

  • 4 Grey Mullet, gutted and cleaned
  • 6 Kashmiri chillies (seeds removed)
  • 5-6 peppercorns
  • 2 flakes garlic
  • Small piece of ginger
  • Half tsp. cumin
  • Half a grated coconut
  • l/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • Small ball of tamarind
  • 1 sliced onion
  • 2 green chillies
  • Salt to taste  

Method

  1. Wash and salt the fish and keep aside.
  2. Grind all the above ingredients except the onion and green chillies.
  3. Dissolve the ground masala in 4 cups of water in a pot, and place on a medium to high heat. 
  4. Add the sliced onion and green chillies. When it comes to a boil add the Grey Mullet. Cook on a medium to low heat until the fish is cooked through and begins to flake.
  5. Serve with rice.
